Sonic Identity

Every face has a sound.

AI without people doesn't exist.
People are what gives AI its value — not the other way around.
This project proves it.

What is this?

Sonic Identity is an open-source art project that transforms human faces into unique musical compositions.

Your face carries a story — age, emotion, structure, character. This project makes that story audible, using sounds recorded by real musicians. The algorithm is just a brush. The authors are people.

How it works

  1. You take a selfie in the web app
  2. The algorithm analyzes your face — age, expression, geometry, emotion — and immediately deletes the photo
  3. Your unique sound signature is generated — a few seconds of music, built entirely from sounds recorded by real musicians
  4. After an event, all signatures combine into a collective composition — unrepeatable, because the people who shaped it are unrepeatable

Three layers — three types of creators

Musicians

Record sounds on any instrument — or any object. These sounds form an open library from which signatures are built. Every musician is credited in every piece that uses their sounds.

Composers

Design the compositional rules — not scores, but rulesets that determine how face features map to musical parameters. Same sounds, same faces, different rules = completely different piece. Every composer can create their own ruleset.

Audience

Give faces — and thus uniqueness. Without people, there is no piece. Your presence is art.

The vision

The platform is the foundation. The real goal is bigger: a live concert where real musicians perform the most compelling compositions generated by the platform.

A piece born from audience faces, shaped by a composer's rules, built from recorded sounds — played live by humans, for the humans who created it with their mere presence.

From people, through algorithm, back to people.
